ndfeb magnet has good magnetic properties, but it is easy to be corroded and oxidized, so what changes will occur after NdFeB Magnet is corroded and oxidized, and will it affect normal operation?
First of all, NdFeB magnets are easy to react with the outside world because of their active surface chemistry, and corrosion and oxidation are divided into long-term and short-term. Normally, our NdFeB magnets must undergo surface treatment to leave the factory, but in the process of use, over time, the electroplating layer may be destroyed, resulting in the magnet part of the inside is oxidized, if it is short-term corrosion oxidation, the magnetism of NdFeB strong magnetism will not weaken too much, but for a long time, long-term oxidation may not be able to be used.
Then the common NdFeB magnet surface treatment options are, nickel plating, zinc plating or epoxy resin.
1. Nickel plating is usually chosen for anti-corrosion performance and salt spray requirements
2. When the product does not have too strict salt spray requirements, galvanizing is a good choice
3. If NdFeB magnets are to be used in water, epoxy resin is a better choice
In general, if the NdFeB magnet is oxidized and corroded, it will not affect the magnet performance in the short term, if you want to increase the service life of the NdFeB magnet, then please do a good surface treatment.
